As a child, swimming punched my ticket like no other activity I pursued. I could do an elaborate dog paddle at the age of six, but I wanted to do more. My Dad could float and do a fair dog paddle at the age of 40. He knew just enough to be dangerous when he performed a magnificent belly dive from the side of a pool.
